Application

A message from the market manager and founder Mitch Cohen.

“The Maker is The Seller.”

At The Market at Sawyer Yards, “The Maker is The Seller” is what this unique Houston market is about, a combination of artisan crafts, art and foods.

My goal as the coordinator is to make attending my markets an easy process so you can focus on your booth and interacting with the public. I am in this for the long haul and your success is vital to my own.

2024 will be my 20th year producing outdoor markets. In fact, I believe I am the first to host a monthly outdoor art market in Houston. How’s that for some cred? I still run First Saturday Arts Market in the Heights, which I started in 2004.

Take your time with the application. With a couple of dozen current exhibitors reviewing applications, you want to make a good impression!  Include the required photos, write out your description as if you are talking to your future colleagues. That is how they are reading it!

I love outdoor markets and I hope to see you at mine!

Cheers!
Mitch Cohen

The market is at the center of Sawyer Yards in Arts District Houston

Just three minutes from Houston’s downtown business district, Sawyer Yards is defined by twenty-four city blocks of industrial warehouses, revived and reimagined as an anchor for the city’s vibrant art scene.

Sawyer Yards is part of history as one of the largest creative communities in the nation and on the Second Saturday of every month, Sawyer Yards invites the public to tour and shop more than 350 open art studios, experience fine art exhibitions, explore an outdoor maker’s market and grab a craft brew and food with friends and family.

The Market at Sawyer Yards coincides with Second Saturday Open Studios.

Applications are reviewed by the exhibitors

All applications are curated by participating exhibitors, they want the best for new neighbors and colleagues – treat this application seriously, the people looking at it do!

Application Requirements

The exhibitors will look for the following requirements for all applications. Leaving any of the 3 out may result in an automatic rejection!

  1. Prove you are the maker – with photos showing the work being made.
  2. Show us what you make and sell.
  3. A booth photo is preferred – a display photo if you do not have one.
Click here if you have never exhibited at an art market before.

Not everyone is ready yet – so we have created an emerging exhibitors application.

The primary difference is your application will be reviewed with your inexperience in mind.

Booth photos are not required, but if you have display photos from an indoor show, or just created them for this application – by all means submit them.

It will help if you include images of your work being created in progress and of course completed works.

If this is any medium other than art or artisan craft, including appropriate photos for your creations.
