Jill Hakala

My work is a combination of the science and the abstract, logic and emotion, technology and the human experience. I attempt to visually demonstrate the connections we make through communication, and within ourselves, using cellular imagery and fibrous materials in my work. I am particularly fascinated by the heart, brain, and neuroscience. I’ve also had a recurring theme of illustrating animals with antlers; deer, moose, and jackalopes. I work primarily in acrylic, gouache, and watercolors.
